After School programs this winter!

Just announced- more after school programs at Stuart Wood Elementary this winter! Pick up permission forms from the office.
1. Canada's Hat Trick Heroes (Outdoor Hockey Program): an after school sports program that will take place on the paved outdoor rink at Stuart Wood from 2:30-4:30 on Wednesdays, starting January 13. This program will focus on building fundamental hockey skills including stationary and moving puck control, passing & receiving, and shooting techniques through mini games.Throughout the program, participants will also play a number of fun warm-up games and team-building activities. All participants will get the opportunity to learn and practice hockey skills, socialize and make friends and will be provided with hot chocolate and snacks! Be sure to dress warmly!
2. Yoga4Youth: a physically active After-School program that will run on Mondays from 2:30 - 4:15 in the Stuart Wood Gym, starting January 11. It will provide students with a gentle method of exercising while incorporating storytelling, visualization, and games to encourage creativity. In addition to being an exercise, Yoga4Youth will provide tools to help students reduce stress, uplift & energize their mood, and enhance their balance, strength, flexibility, and coordination. It will also allow the opportunity for students to develop leadership, connection, and a sense of community within their group.
3. Swagger Sports: Swagger Sports is an after school sports program that aims to increase physical literacy in participants. It will run on Thursdays from 2:30 - 4:30 in the gym, starting January 7. The program will include a variety of fun sports and games including tag games, relays, obstacle courses, tennis, soccer, floor hockey and other mini-games. The program also aims to create a sense of camaraderie amongst participants, to encourage healthy lifestyles, and inspire excitement toward physical fitness in turn boosting participants’ self confidence. Swagger: to strut or swell with pride.
